A Rights-Based Approach to Empowering Migrant Women Affected by Violence - Vietnam

The project will work towards the promotion of the rights of women, specifically related to violence against women, and intends to achieve these goals by supporting local NGOs in the development of self-help groups for migrant women affected by violence. Through these groups, the needs and priorities of migrant women affected by violence will be discussed, developed, and articulated through various channels to the government, mass organisations, media, and communities.

Pandemic Preparedness for Migrants and Host Communities - Phase II

Information collected by IOM in the first phase of this project reveal that migrants and members of host communities have little or no knowledge or perception of risk of human pandemic. Most governments at the national, provincial or district level do not have pandemic preparedness plans for the local communities let alone migrants communities. During this phase of the project the capacity of district officials, community workers, migrant and host communities will be strengthened to be prepared for a pandemic or any other humanitarian crisis.

Situation Report on International Migration in East and South-East Asia

The Situation Report on International Migration in East and South-East Asia covers migration dynamics in 16 countries within the region and is a collaborative effort by all the organizations that participate in the Regional Thematic Working Group on International Migration including Human Trafficking, which is co-chaired by the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and IOM. The aim of the report is to explore complex inter-linkages between international migration and the process of economic, demographic and social development within the region.

Health and Human Trafficking in the Greater Mekong Sub-region: Findings from a survey of men, women and children in Thailand, Cambodia and Viet Nam

Trafficking in human beings is a gross violation of human rights that often involves extreme exploitation and abuse. To date, there has been very limited robust research on the health consequences of human trafficking, particularly for various forms of labour in the Greater Mekong Subregion. This study aims to fill critical gaps in the body of knowledge on the health risks and consequences of human trafficking in order to improve protections and care services.
