Global Health Assessment Programme - resettlements in Australia (HAPA)

At the request of the Government of Australia, IOM carries out migration health assessment and DNA sample collection services for immigration self-payer applicants referred by local Australian High Commissions, in accordance with the Australian government’s instructions for the medical and radiological examination of Australian visa applicants.

Medical and Psychological Assistance to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Ukraine

The objective of this project is to contribute to the efforts of the Government of Ukraine (GoU) in addressing immediate needs of vulnerable internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by the ongoing crisis, with special focus on gap-filling medical and psychological assistance. IOM will facilitate access to appropriate healthcare services including referrals for treatment to nearest health facility and psychological counseling for vulnerable categories of IDPs.

Migrant Community Information for Behaviour Change to Reduce the Spread of Influenza Like Illnesses

This project proposes to strengthen the capacity of migrant communities to mitigate and respond to crisis caused by influenza like illnesses in the community. The specific objectives of this project are: 1) To strengthen national, district and community capacities to include the health and social needs of migrants in disaster preparedness and human influenza pandemic preparedness, mitigation and response plans.

Increasing public health safety alongside the New Eastern European Border: An overview of findings from the situational analysis

This document is based on the Situation Analysis Report (SAR) undertaken within the framework of the project “Increasing Public Health Safety alongside the New Eastern European Border Line” (PHBLM) and co-authored by Mariya Samuilova, Jennifer Hollings and Roumyana Petrova-Benedict from the Migration Health Unit, IOM Brussels.

Guidelines for border management and detention procedures involving migrants: A public health perspective

The guidelines was developed within the framework of PHBLM project “Increasing Public Health Safety alongside the New Eastern European Border Line”.  It was designed primarily to support the capacity of border management personnel to deal with migration health concerns and public health risks related to migration and to promote good practices and standards for border management and health personnel working and dealing with significant health risks.

This publication is a shortened version of the summary report “Mobility of Health Professionals: Health systems, work conditions, patterns of health workers’ mobility and implication for policy makers”, which was published in March 2012, in Bonn, Germany, by a consortium led by Dr. Caren Weilandt at the Wissenschaftliches Institut der Ärzte Deutschlands (WIAD, Scientific Institute of the Medical Association of German Doctors).
