As the number of forcibly displaced individuals and the threat of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases rise, it is crucial to improve the understanding, prevention, detection, and treatment of infectious and non-infectious diseases affecting these mobile populations.

The purpose of the program is to assist CDC in implementing activities to strengthen prevention and control efforts of infectious diseases, including vaccine-preventable diseases, in US-bound refugees and other migrant populations worldwide.
