Hurricane Matthew Response Fund in Haiti

In response to Hurricane Matthew IOM Haiti has identified five priority areas of intervention which have been reflected in a global flash appeal. By combining these five (5) components, the project’s objective is to assist the Government of Haiti and its humanitarian partners in the immediate assistance of affected populations through the provision of NFI and WASH items as well as updated information on displaced populations and logistical support.

Life Saving Emergency Assistance, Shelter and NFI to Internally Displaced Populations Affected by Hurricane Matthew in Haiti

Migration Crisis in Costa Rica: Supporting the Government of Costa Rica to Provide Humanitarian Assistance to Stranded Migrants

Costa Rica is experiencing an unprecedented influx of Cuban migrants into the country. These migrants arrive in South America and working their way up through Central America and Mexico to reach their final destination, the United States. In order to holistically address this situation, IOM is proposing several immediate and medium-term activities to address the needs of migrants, both intra- and extra-continental, with a focus on assisting vulnerable populations and supporting the Government of Costa Rica to increase its capacity to address the situation.

Physical Security Response to IDP Victims/Survivors of SGBV, Haiti Phase IV

This project aims to address persistent nature of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in Haiti among IDPs and vulnerable individuals in communities by addressing displacement and ensuring personal security of SGBV victims/survivors through coordinated commune-level emergency response and helping enable a nation-wide SGBV data collection, storage and analysis system for community-based response actors .

Establishment and Maintenance of Basic Living, Sanitary Conditions and Health Procedures in Temporary Shelters for Populations Affected by the Earthquake in, Guatemala

The project aims to assist 1,500 families affected by the earthquake in 2 departments of Guatemala (San Marcos and Quetzaltenango) through the provision of emergency shelter kits and winterized NFIs to provide the minimal living conditions to people living in shelters.

Capacity Building in Relief Commodities and Supplies Management for Disaster Preparedness and Response, Haiti & Preparedness for the 2012 Hurricane Season in Haiti (CBRC)

In order to improve disaster preparedness and response in Haiti, this project seeks two complimentary objectives. First, this project will address immediate disaster mitigation and response needs during the 2012 hurricane season. This includes potential disasters that may occur as a result of heavy tropical storms and/or hurricanes, including destructive flooding, mudslides and cholera outbreaks.

Facilitating the Return-Relocation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and the Closure of IDP Site Pinchinnat, in Jacmel, Haiti (FRRID)

This project aims to contribute –through the provision of rental and livelihood support cash grants– to the returns/relocation of displaced families and the closure of camp Pinchinnat, opened as a result of the January 2010 earthquake. To achieve this objective, IOM will provide up to 270 IDP households in camp Pinchinnat with return/relocation grants to cover the costs of at least one year of rent.
