Emergency Voluntary Return and Reintegration Assistance to Stranded Congolese Women and Children in Uganda (EVRRA)

The project aims to urgently respond to the humanitarian needs of the women and children in terms of shelter and protection from human rights and sexual abuses by the community and military before their departure, as well as facilitate their dignified return to their home country DRC. The project will pay particular attention to the women and children health situation, including the women's reproductive health, and to the children's right to be recognized as being born in Uganda.

Strengthening Social Cohesion and Stability in Slum Populations

This action will address the root causes of inter communal conflict in slum populations by addressing sources of grievances and by strengthening community cohesion around shared development assets. More specifically, the action will provide employment opportunities and basic local services, as well as preventing conflict in marginalised communities in urban slums of Uganda.

Construction of Education and Health Care Infrastructure and Procurement of Medical Equipment and Supplies at Rwamwanja Settlement, Uganda

Through this project IOM aims to enhance basic services in the health and education sector in Rwamwanja refugee settlement in Kamwenge district. A surgical operating theatre will be constructed within the Rwamwanja Health Centre (HC) and fitted with appropriately specified single room theatre equipment, a standard anaesthetic machine and other items using Uganda Ministry of Health Centre IV guidelines. IOM will also install solar energy system for lighting, a generator to supply power during operations, a rainwater harvesting system and a water storage tank.

Field assessment on the influence of GBV, HIV/AIDS and food insecurity on livelihood outcomes of populations of humanitarian concern in Northern Uganda

The findings revealed that Gender-Based Violence, HIV/AIDS, and food insecurity remain a major challenge for displaced persons returning home with negative impacts on livelihoods. Contributed to the guidance note on GBV and livelihoods for the FAO.
