BACKGROUND: Tuberculosis elimination in countries with a low incidence of the disease necessitates multiple interventions, including innovations in migrant screening. We examined a cohort of migrants screened for tuberculosis before entry to England, Wales, and Northern Ireland and tracked the development of disease in this group after arrival.
This project aims to support the voluntary, safe and dignified return of IDPs by providing medical screening and transportation and contributing to the overall effort for the reintegration of IDPs in the communities most exposed to returns.
This project seeks to contribute to the voluntary return to Afghanistan of undocumented Afghan nationals living in Pakistan – this will contribute towards the larger exercise spearheaded by the governments of Afghanistan and Pakistan to register all undocumented Afghans in Pakistan as well as the Government of Afghanistan’s planned issuance of travel documents to registered Afghans for regularization of stay in Pakistan through relevant visa regimes. Through this plan, IOM seeks to contribute to sustainable return of undocumented Afghans from Pakistan to their place of origin.
The principal objective of the project contribute to relief and recovery assistance for natural disaster affected populations, including those affected by the 2011 floods. The specific objective is to support vulnerable, flood affected populations through Shelter Cluster coordination, direct provision of emergency Shelter and NFIs and emergency health assistance.
The principal objective of the project is to contribute to the survival of those affected by the 2010 floods in Sindh and Punjab provinces in Pakistan supporting the overarching goals defined in the revised Pakistan Emergency Response Plan which aims to prevent excess morbidity and mortality and to enable flood affected communities to return to their normal lives. The specific objective is to provide emergency and early recovery shelter for flood affected families in Sindh and Punjab provinces
IOM programme will: (1) support sustainable solutions through the provision of shelter assistance, prioritizing interventions that can span emergency shelter and core housing needs, (2) restore livelihoods, with a focus on small businesses, agriculture and restoration of productive assets, and (3) restore basic community services and supporting the re-establishment of public administration, health, and education systems.
This project will provide comprehensive support to the flood affected population of Sindh and Punjab through Health, Mass Communications and Shelter/NFI Coordination support activities. Planned activities will build on ongoing programming, ensuring continuity for ongoing interventions in line with the findings of assessments, respective cluster's response strategies and priorities highlighted in Pakistan Initial Floods Emergency Response Plan (PIFERP).
This project will provide multi-sectoral support for up to 645,357 flood-affected households throughout Pakistan. The activities under this proposal will contribute to the rapid provision of critical lifesaving support to affected populations, as well as enable the conditions neces-sary for return of the population to their areas of origin.
