Tuberculosis in migrants moving from high-incidence to low-incidence countries: a population-based cohort study of 519 955 migrants screened before entry to England, Wales, and Northern Ireland

BACKGROUND: Tuberculosis elimination in countries with a low incidence of the disease necessitates multiple interventions, including innovations in migrant screening. We examined a cohort of migrants screened for tuberculosis before entry to England, Wales, and Northern Ireland and tracked the development of disease in this group after arrival.

Strengthening Reintegration Support for Cambodian Migrants Returned from Thailand

The proposed project aims at supporting the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) in gaining a better understanding of the needs of returnees with the intention to effectively manage the sudden large scale population flows throughout Cambodia by: 1) Conducting a rapid needs assessment of the returning and returned migrants in several provinces in collaboration with relevant Government ministries in charge of coordinating data collection processes at district and commune levels.

Strengthening Safe Migration and HIV-AIDS Education and Life Skills among Outbound Migrant Workers and their Families (ELSOM)

The objective of the project is to support the Royal Government of Cambodia’s Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training to implement the Prakas (Sub-decree)108: On Education of HIV/AIDS, Safe Migration and Labour Rights for Cambodian Workers Abroad. The project will contribute to the development of safe migration education modules for pre-departur education and will provide logistical support for the facilitation of such training. It will also serve to help facilitate HIV/AIDS Pre-Departure Training for prospective labour migrants.

Anti-Trafficking and Psychosocial Assistance Project, Phnom Penh (ATPA)

The primary objectives of this proposed three-year project is to contribute to the efforts of the Cambodian Government meet its obligations under the Coordinated Mekong Ministerial Initiative Against Trafficking (COMMIT) through increasing awareness levels to the risk and avoidance mechanisms of trafficking and providing complementary psychosocial assistance to vulnerable/marginalized border populations. The project will build on the successful model developed through the Childhood Mental Health and Anti-Trafficking Project in Rattanak Mondul District.

Psychosocial and mental health service provision for survivors of trafficking: Baseline research in the Greater Mekong Subregion and Indonesia

This “baseline paper” investigates current “psychosocial” intervention measures, while focusing on the mental and emotional well-being of trafficked persons, examining interpretations of “psychosocial” support and constructively critiquing the efficacy and breadth of such interventions. Moreover the study looks into the link between the provision of services and the actual needs and rights.
