Global Health Assessment Programme - resettlements in Australia (HAPA)

At the request of the Government of Australia, IOM carries out migration health assessment and DNA sample collection services for immigration self-payer applicants referred by local Australian High Commissions, in accordance with the Australian government’s instructions for the medical and radiological examination of Australian visa applicants.

Global Health Assessment Programme - Resettlements in Other Countries (HAPOC)

At the request of governments and entities other than the Governments of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom and United States, IOM carries out migration health assessment, DNA sample collection, age assessment, and pre-departure medical assessment services for refugees, returnees, students and immigration self-payer applicants referred by various governments and entities, such as UNHCR.

Regional Capacity Development Technical Assistance for Malaria and Communicable Disease Control

Malaria continues to remain a major public health concern in Cambodia and within the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS). In order to support the National Centre for Parasitology, Entomology and Malaria Control (CNM) to ensure successful accomplishment of the goals of the National Malaria Elimination Strategy 2025, this project will pilot approaches to targeting mobile and migrant populations (MMP) for malaria, with a particular focus on Private Sector Sites and linking with regional and cross-border initiatives.

Pandemic Preparedness for Migrants and Host Communities - Phase II

Information collected by IOM in the first phase of this project reveal that migrants and members of host communities have little or no knowledge or perception of risk of human pandemic. Most governments at the national, provincial or district level do not have pandemic preparedness plans for the local communities let alone migrants communities. During this phase of the project the capacity of district officials, community workers, migrant and host communities will be strengthened to be prepared for a pandemic or any other humanitarian crisis.

Humanitarian Pandemic Preparedness, Mitigation and Response - Capacity Building for Migrants and Host Communities in Egypt, Cambodia and Laos (HPPAR 2)

This project will implement activities that will strengthen migrant host communities' capacity for practical responses to cope during and increasing of influenza like illnesses. The purposes of the proposed programme are 1) to strengthen capacity for surveillance in migrant populations, 2) provide public information and support behaviour change communication, 3) ensuring the continuity of essential social, economic, and governance services.

Humanitarian Pandemic Preparedness and Response - Capacity Building for Migrants and Host Communities

The critical relationship between population mobility and emerging or re-emerging infectious diseases is particularly evident in the case of avian and human influenza. Both migrants and host communities need to be made aware of the risks they face and the safety measures they can employ to protect themselves and their communities as well as how to access health and social services when needed.
