Integrated HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) Biological and Behavioural Surveillance Survey among Key Populations in Somalia
Following two successful rounds of integrated biological and behavioural surveillance (IBBS) surveys in 2008 and 2014 in Somaliland, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) undertook a third survey in 2017. In collaboration with the AIDS Commission, Ministries of Health and UNICEF, IOM undertook the survey with sex workers and clients, including uniformed personnel, port workers and truckers across three cities in Somalia – Hargeisa, Bossaso and Mogadishu.

MIgrant Health Assessment in South Sudan
This situational assessment of migrant health in South Sudan has been conducted for IOM with the support of the Partnership on Health and Mobility in East and Southern Africa (PHAMESA) and sponsored by Sida and Norad. It aims to address the lack of consolidated data on the particular health challenges faced by migrants, notably returnees, IDPs, migrant female sex workers, truck drivers, and migrant workers in South Sudan.

The EUR 4.9 million project – Partnership on Health and Mobility in the Mining Sector of Southern Africa – will be funded by the Minister of Foreign Trade and International Cooperation of the Netherlands and will run through December 2015.
Conditions and risks of mixed migration in North East Africa (Study 2)
This report focuses on the conditions and risks of migration in Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt. In particular, it focuses on the experiences of people who are on the move. The pattern of migration in this region is complex. No evidence was found to support the idea that large numbers of people are leaving their countries of origin with the intention of reaching Europe. The idea of crossing the Mediterranean to Europe often arose from disappointment at the conditions in neighbouring countries.
