Emergency Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) for Displaced Families from Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and Vavuniya Districts (WASH 2)

The project objective is to ensure timely provision of safe water, adequate sanitation facilities, and hygiene assistance and to prevent any outbreak of waterborne diseases among the rapidly increasing number of IDPs. Activities include sanitation construction, water provision, and hygiene promotion.

Emergency Shelter for IDPs in the North and East of Sri Lanka (ESIN - CERF)

Through the implementation of this project IOM aims to: a) Ensure IDPs have adequate living conditions (according to SPHERE/International Standards), b) Prepare, maintain and decommission shelter sites avoiding the creation of overcrowded, unhealthy and hazardous settlements. Proposed Activities are the distribution/construction of Emergency Shelter Kits/Tents, built in line with SPHERE /International standards and in close consultation with beneficiaries.

Emergency Assistance for People of Sri Lanka (EPSL)

The overall objective of the proposed intervention is to address the immediate safety and shelter needs of IDPs located in the Northern Districts of Vavuniya, Mannar and Jaffna, through the provision of emergency tents and shelters. By addressing the needs of IDPs for emergency shelters, the safety and health of beneficiaries is significantly improved by providing protection from physical harm, disease and the environment.

Transportation Support for Humanitarian Supplies in Sri Lanka (TSH)

The objective of the project is to provide a centralised, rapid, transportation system to deliver immediate humanitarian relief materials such as: food, tents, shelter materials and medical supplies to people in need of humanitarian relief through transport assistance provided to humanitarian and governmental agencies in close coordination with the Sector lead Agency WFP, which is mostly involved in transporting food only.

The objective of the project is to provide emergency assistance in the sector of water, sanitation and hygiene according to the sphere standards for displaced families in order to reduce the risks of outbreak of water borne diseases. Activities include a) Sanitation construction: Through this project an estimated 2,870 emergency toilets will be constructed in camp settings taking into account the emergency level minimum sphere standard of one toilet per 50 people (with consideration of separated male/female toilets).

Relief and Assistance to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Sri Lankan Refugees Returning from India (RAIDP)

The Project will provide immediate relief and support to the vulnerable groups affected by the ongoing and escalating civil conflict in ways that maintain their dignity and consider the diversity of their needs. Main beneficiary requirements addressed are shelter, living conditions, non-food relief, water and sanitation. To achieve ongoing impact beyond the Project duration, the Project will also strengthen conditions and mechanisms that assist these populations to increase their resilience and capacity to better face future challenges posed by the uncertain country situation.

Emergency Shelter for IDPs in the North and East of Sri Lanka (ESIN)

IOM will contribute to assist 300 families residing in the North and East with much needed shelter assistance. Further, IOM will contribute to establish, manage and decommission camps. During the life of the project IOM will work: 1) to ensure that IDPs have adequate living conditions, 2) to prepare, maintain and decommission shelter sites avoiding the creation of overcrowded, unhealthy and hazardous settlements.
