Global Health Assessment Programme - resettlements in Australia (HAPA)

At the request of the Government of Australia, IOM carries out migration health assessment and DNA sample collection services for immigration self-payer applicants referred by local Australian High Commissions, in accordance with the Australian government’s instructions for the medical and radiological examination of Australian visa applicants.

Swedish Medical Programme to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo (SMP) Phase 5 - Bosnia

The Swedish Medical Programme (SMP) was established in 1995 to address the need for medical and surgical services that were not available in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) as result of the 1992-1995 war. Based on its successful implementation in BiH, the programme was extended to Kosovo in 2000. This project builds on the original and long-standing programme jointly implemented in collaboration between the Swedish Government and International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Psychosocial Support for Vulnerable Persons Displaced by Floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNDP)

The objective of the project is to alleviate the psychosocial effects of the floods and consequent displacement in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), in order to reduce psychosocial vulnerabilities and longer-term individual and social negative impact. and ensure the provision of direct focused assistance in addressing ongoing psychosocial issues.

Building the Capacities of the Ministry of Defence of BiH to Provide Systematic Support in the Reintegration of Discharged Personnel into Civilian Life Within the Discharge Process

In the context of the high prevalence of anxiety, depression, and other symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) mental health and traumatic stress issues amongst discharged personnel, this intervention will complement and support NATO efforts. and will be implemented alongside and serve to compliment interventions funded by the UK and Norway to support the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in attaining the capacity and mechanisms to provide systematic support in the reintegration of discharged personnel into civilian life within the discharge process.

Building the Capacities of the Ministry of Defence of BiH to Provide Systematic Support in the Reintegration of Discharged Personnel into Civilian Life within the Discharge Process - Psychosocial Activities

This intervention will complement and support NATO efforts by implementing some of those training activities as well as by further developing and testing the methodology created by Kings College London to facilitate the provision of tailored psychosocial assistance. This project will be implemented alongside and serve to compliment interventions funded by the US and NATO.

Building the Capacities of BiH Institutions to Address Mental Health Issues Amongst Defence Personnel in BiH

The overall objective of this project is to enhance the capacities of the Ministry of Defense (MoD) as well as the Ministry of Health of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of Republika Srpska (MoHs) in providing a systematic response to mental health issues of current and discharged personnel of the Armed Forces of BiH, as well as in the context of participation in peacekeeping missions. 

Swedish Medical Teams & Medical Emergency Assistance for Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo (SMP), Phase IV - Period 2

The main objective will focus on strengthening the specialized health care facilities in the prioritized surgical fields, aiming to establish the functional surgical services in the University Clinical Centres in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Pristhina. One specific objective of the Activities during the project period is to support establishment of a sustainable regional solution for diagnostics and treatment of children with heart malformations.

Swedish Medical Programme to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo (SMP)

The Swedish Medical Programme (SMP) was established in 1995 in order to meet the need for medical and surgical services not available in BiH as a result of the 1992-95 war. Based on its success in BiH, the programme was extended to Kosovo in 2000. Over the years, its aim has become two-fold: (1) the main priority is to build the local capacity of BiH and Kosovo medical staff and institutions, and;  (2) then to provide medical evacuations to Sweden for patients for whom treatment is not yet available in BiH and Kosovo.
