Seeking Care, Support and Justice for Survivors of Conflict Related Sexual Violence in Bosnia and Herzegovina - Phase III

The proposed intervention is founded on the basic assumption that coherent advocacy and capacitation of public institutions, combined with fully integrated approach to addressing Stigma across all activities, at every level leads towards improved services, legislation, policies, mechanisms and practices that impact the lives of survivors.

Emergency Response to the Increased Mixed Migration Flow in Bosnia and Herzegovina

In order to meet the urgent accommodation and humanitarian needs of irregular migrants and asylum seekers, IOM will support the BiH authorities in ensuring accommodation and assistance to migrants and asylum seekers, especially to particularly vulnerable categories of migrants, ensuring dignified treatment in line with international standards. 1. Migrants and asylum seekers are provided with adequate temporary accommodation 2. Vulnerable migrants have increased access to assistance and protection services, including medical services.

Emergency Assistance to BIH Floods-Affected Populations

The overall objective of this project is to contribute to the improvement in living conditions of populations affected by the floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina through the provision of urgently needed life-saving emergency shelter. The intervention shall aim to reduce levels of morbidity and mortality among vulnerable displaced populations returning to flood-affected communities in BiH, with special attention accorded to women, children, the sick and elderly and those with special needs. To date 25 persons died and there is no confirmation about the number of missing persons.

Community Based Approach to Support Youth in Targeted Municipalities in BiH - Bosnia & Herzegovina

This project will empower young people in at-risk communities and build their resilience against the drivers of violent extremism. The approach of the project is based upon mutually reinforcing components, namely psychosocial support; demand-driven vocational support; the provision of flexible small grants; community debates on sensitive topics; support for youth-led media work; and work with parents as influencers to identify and prevent Violent Extremism.

Community Based Approach to Support Youth in Target Municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina

This pilot project focuses on activities that target at-risk communities and individuals and constitutes one component of a comprehensive strategy for addressing violent extremism. To be fully effective, it must be implemented alongside and in coordination with other strategically interlinked approaches, in the form of law enforcement and counterterrorism activities, as well as capacity building of the Government and other actors to counter violent extremism.

Implementation of EU/UNHCR Agreement #2013/335-342 "Annex VII Action: Support to Durable Solutions of Revised Annex VII DPA Implementation Strategy" through Enabling Access to Rights and Inclusive Social Services - Bosnia and Herzegovina

This project will be addressing the problems pertaining to elderly and vulnerable internally displaced persons (IDPs) and minority returnees in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), and their access to health care facilities and services. IOM will facilitate this access using the experience from its other projects, such as the the NATO-Perspektiva Programme, the project providing support for discharged Armed Forces personnel in BiH since 2002.

Annex VII Action: Support to Durable Solutions of Revised Annex VII DPA Implementation Strategy through enabling access to rights and inclusive social services

This project will target vulnerable returnee or IDP families, in line with the Revised Strategy of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Revised Strategy identified obstacles to solutions in the following main groupings: livelihoods, health, education, electrification, water supply, roads and other infrastructure, social protection, housing and property, and compensation for property that could not be recovered. The overall objective of the project is to support the national actors in addressing the remaining obstacles to solutions for displaced persons and returnees.

Study about the basic concepts and problems of violence, prostitution and trafficking in asylum-detention centers in Bosnia-Herzegovina

A detailed analysis of the situation shows a number of problems. These include the overall need to improve the protection of victim’s rights, including their protection The mentioned problems are of a serious nature and highly complicated. Identification and understanding of these issues are an integral part of the process of improving anti-trafficking responses throughout the region.

Research on the state of literacy among the asylum seekers and refugees in Bosnia-Herzegovina

In 2005 almost 94 percent of the children in reception centres were enrolled in primary schools and completed the 2004/2005 academic year. UNHCR’s educational initiatives for children or adults covered. Despite the effort of project activities, the degree of literacy is below average. The question arises, further research is needed.

Gender-sensitive budget of the Municipality of Bar, Montenegro

This document is intended for municipality Bar who wish to introduce a gender-sensitive way of planning and budgeting. The manual is especially geared towards Bar municipality and adapted to their context. However, it may be useful for municipalities across the world with similar competencies and budget processes. It includes an introduction to gender, gender issues, and the basics of gender-responsive budgeting, before describing a set of tools, which can be applied by municipal officers and assembly members. Civil society organizations have an important role in supporting municipalities and citizens to deliberate on gender issues in their communities and prioritize activities accordingly.
