Migration Health Research Area/Expertise
Although I have been an ardent lover of migration-related topics since my undergraduate days (2003-2006) but for the past 7 years (from 2013) since I became a Faculty at Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria, I have taught Migration related courses at different undergraduate and diploma classes. Some of the courses I have taught and still teaching include Population and Health, Population and Environment, Population Geography and Demographic Situations in Developing Countries. Key issues on migration and health nexus are involved in most of the stated courses. My primary research areas include Migration (Internal and International), Population and Health, Urban Geography, among others. I have written over 20 scholarly articles revolving around some of the above research areas and related themes and there are other articles under review. Currently, I am working on linkages between migration and the ‘importation’ of coronavirus from high risk to low prevalence countries in Africa using disease diffusion theory as a framework. I have also published articles on health and wellbeing issues among internally displaced persons in Nigeria.

Going forward, I plan to publish policy-oriented articles on migration especially the ones that can force policymakers in Africa to make life easier for African migrants, including refugees, internally displaced persons, and unaccompanied migrant children (UMC). This can work out effectively if all African countries implement the Migration Policy for Africa (MPFA) as outlined by the AU Member States recently in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
