Description

This study was conducted in early 2011. In the initial stages of the project, IOM worked with partners from the Ministry of Health and the Provincial Health Department to identify migrants and coordinate with border authorities in Banteay Meanchey and Svay Rieng provinces. Data collection focused on the mobility of irregular migrants and health outcomes. A control group of non-migrants from source communities in Banteay Meanchey and Svay Rieng were also intervewed for a comparison. The Situational Assessment was designed as an operational and policy oriented study aiming to provide an in-depth understanding of the health issues faced by Cambodian irregular migrants.
