Evacuation from Misurata to Benghazi and Provision of Humanitarian Aid to Misurata (EMBP)

The project aims to evacuate 1,600 migrants stranded in the city and to provide humanitarian aid to the local population through the provision of medicines and non-food items. Both the evacuation and the provision of supplies will be implemented through sea transportation with 2 rotations on the route Bengasi-Misurata-Bengasi. Afterwards, migrants will be assisted for 5 days in a reception camp in Bengasi and eventually in their way back to the Egyptian camp of Sallum.

Provision of Life-Saving Multi-Sectorial Services to Meet the Needs of the Most Vulnerable Migrants in Libya and Host Communities

This project contributes to the urgently needed improvement of living conditions of migrants, hosting communities and conflict affected individuals and families in Sabha, Ubari and Benghazi. The proposal will consist of three outcomes: 1) Stranded and vulnerable migrants, IDPs and host communities have access to NFIs/HKs; 2) the most vulnerable migrants, including Victims of Trafficking (VoTs) and victims of gender-based violence (GBV), receive protection services; and 3) Targeted populations benefit from the provision of health and psychosocial services.

Improving the Lives of Migrants through Direct Assistance and the Displacement Tracking Matrix

Ongoing conflict and difficult socioeconomic conditions have continued to adversely affect migrants in Libya. This project provides direct assistance and enhances protection for migrants through: • Improving the living conditions of migrants rescued at sea and in collective centres by providing psychosocial and medical assistance, increasing the capacity of first responders to identify and respond to protection concerns, providing non-food items (NFIs) and hygiene kits.

Provision Humanitarian Direct Assistance to IDPs

This project contributes to the improvement of living conditions of IDPs and affected populations through a swift and holistic approach, addressing needs through the distribution of NFIs and Hygiene Kits to the most vulnerable groups, in identified priority locations. - Provision of NFIs: IOM will provide 1000 IDPS families and affected population with NFI and hygiene kits. DRC will provide 900 IDP vulnerable families located in the south of Libya with essential NFI (approximately 4500 individuals).

Material, Medical and Psychosocial Assistance to Vulnerable Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons - Libya

This project complements current IOM actions, distributing Non-Food Items (NFIs) among IDP and migrant communities where major displacements have occurred. Assistance includes the provision of sanitary and NFIs, as well as offering health care and psychosocial support. Specific attention will be provided to migrants and IDPs who are women, children and unaccompanied minors, older people and those with chronic conditions and disabilities in regards to their specific protection needs. In this context multi-tiered forms of psychosocial support are needed.

Humanitarian Repatriation for Stranded Migrants in Libya

This proposal seeks to address the needs of Third Country Nationals (TCNs) in Libya by facilitating, when possible, the humanitarian repatriation of foreign nationals detained in Libyan migrant detention centres as well as of other migrants who are irregularly residing and stranded in Libya and who wish to return to their country of origin. The proposed project will provide counselling, transit/reception assistance and facilitate onward transportation to the final destination within the migrant’s country of origin.

Humanitarian Assistance to Vulnerable Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons in Libya

The objective of the proposed response is designed to provide a holistic approach in order to address gaps and needs and enhance humanitarian assistance and the migration aspects of the crisis. The project will address the metropolitan area of Tripoli, El Zawiya, Surman and Sabratha. It will be providing direct support to vulnerable migrants and IDPs while local associations and crisis committees will also be trained and supported.

Promoting Peace and Stability for IDPs, Migrant and Local Host Communities in Libya

The proposed action aims to promote peace and stability for IDPs, migrant and local host communities in Libya, in line with the four key objectives of the IOM Response Plan ‘Addressing Complex Migration Flows in the Mediterranean’ namely: (1) protecting migrants’ basic rights; (2) addressing drivers of irregular migration; (3) promoting safe, orderly and dignified human mobility; and (4) developing partnerships for growth and competitiveness.

Empowering Tawergha IDPs through Community Based Protection and Mental Health and Psychosocial

In 2016, facilitated by the UNSMIL Human Rights Department, the local councils of Misurata and Tawergha, started an official reconciliation process with the aim of ending the displacement and addressing the reparations to the victims of both sides. The agreement was signed on August 31, 2016. Since then, the pact was modified multiple times and parties failed on the implementation of the agreement.

Fostering Health and Protection to Vulnerable Migrants Transiting through Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Yemen

IOM is proposing a new project to continue to support and fill the gaps of the national and local actors of Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Yemen in migration management with a focus on improving health and protection to vulnerable migrants regionally. More specifically, a follow up project in the five countries will implement a set of tailored activities to support governments and to assist vulnerable migrants and respond to their health and protection needs.
