Migration Health Research Area/Expertise
As a researcher and academic in the college of Medicine and Health sciences at An-najah National University (Occupied Palestinian Territories), I started to get engaged in the public health aspects and research activities about migrants and refugees in the past few years. My scope was in the analysis of research trends and research growth pertaining to refugees, asylum seekers, and internally displaced. My first publication was on the assessment of global research output on the abovementioned categories of migrants. My current and future projects are on the human rights aspect in health of migrants in general. I am also working with the IOM on a project to create database regarding peer reviewed publications on international migrants. Given the fact that there are more than three million Palestinian refugees in the middle east, my motives to get engaged in health aspects of refugees was strong, hoping to shed light on the volume and impact of research on refugees and their needs regardless of their origin and ethnicities.
