Migration Health Research Area/Expertise
I am an early career researcher working on strengthening Health System and Health Policy Development at Global, Regional and National levels through research, and advisory. My recent work was focused on Health Systems Research, Refugees Health, NCDs, Gender, Intersectionality, sexual and reproductive health and rights. I hold a Master degree (MSc) in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from the University of London (Joint program between the London School of Economics & London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine). Stemming from a real passion for addressing the pressing problems arising from the refugees’ crises around the world, I choose to focus my dissertation topic on examining the policies that govern the healthcare access of refugees and asylum seekers in host countries, identifying and comparing the level of preparedness of these countries’ health systems. The research was based on a scoping review of literature, adopting a thematic analysis approach to identify evidence, highlight gaps in knowledge and translate research findings into recommendations to policymakers in host countries. The work I have done for my dissertation was later used as the ground material for my paper “Access to Healthcare Policies for Refugees and Asylum Seekers” that is now out for publication in the International Journal for Migration, Health and Social Care.
