Migration Health Research Area/Expertise
I am a mid-level Study Coordinator and emerging social scientist interested in the intersection of social science, community-based research, and policy. I aspire to be a well-rounded community-oriented social scientist and translational researcher, connecting the community with policymakers and program implementers. My research and career thus far have been in HIV/AIDS, population mobility, and migration.

My most recent role in the past five years has been managing a multi-year longitudinal and regional study in HIV/AIDS, STIs, and mobility. I have developed skills to bridge the gap between the community and implementer, by elucidating why interventions work or do not work. Specifically, I have been focused on investigating the unmet healthcare needs of mobile and migrant populations through Community Based Participatory (CBPR) approach, engaging local populations in identifying and proposing interventions to address the HIV/AIDS healthcare needs. My role was to translate the findings from this study into policy briefs to guide programmatic decisions, including the development of innovative HIV care models. I will be developing policy documents and publications related to this work.

I have engaged as a Consultant on the Centre for Aids Research (CFAR) study, exploring HIV care of highly mobile HIV-positive youth living in Kenya and Uganda and the Refugee Youth Volunteering study, among young migrants in West Nile and Kampala Urban refugee communities on volunteering, skills acquisition, and employability. Most recently, I completed a course on health and migration organized by the Centre for Health and Migration Vienna and Makerere University.
