Migration Health Research Area/Expertise
I have over-15 years of doing research and journalistic writing on international migration and development issues. These endeavors even involve looking at these issues from multi-disciplinal, multi-sectoral lenses. I even look at migrant health in the context of social protection and social protection policy.

Given the COVID-19 pandemic, I had done some journalistic articles and policy papers last year on the impact of the pandemic on migrants, their families, and their earnings. Even if looking at their earnings, naturally yielding more (remittance) incomes impacts a toll on migrants’ health conditions.

I also think that as the world prepares for the new normal, interest in migrant health policy (and even in a nation’s overall health policy) becomes a timely intervention for a country –the Philippines—with a significant number of Filipinos abroad.
