Migration Health Research Area/Expertise
As a clinician in the South African public sector, internal and international migrants have been a part of our patient load, and treating their unique circumstances has become a factor to consider when managing patients. I’m currently specializing in public health medicine and am aware of the importance of ensuring our work is always inclusive of vulnerable groups, including migrants. My interest in migrant health was sparked by involvement in a research competition this year where our group focused on access to migrant health.
