Desk Study on Human Trafficking and HIV-AIDS in East and Southern Africa (STHA)

This study will identify gaps and make recommendations about how to mainstream HIV and AIDS in counter trafficking (CT) responses in East and Southern Africa. It will review existing research on the linkages between human trafficking and HIV vulnerability. It will also look at programme and policy responses from IOM and other organisations where HIV and AIDS have been mainstreamed or integrated into CT responses, and identify examples of good practices.

Emergency Provision of Shelter Assistance to Destitute Households Affected by Operation Murambatsvina (SADH)

The overall goal of the programme is the provision of shelter to the most vulnerable populations affected by Operation Murambatsvina in Harare, Manicaland and Victoria Falls for 375 households. This will be done within the framework of IOM's already funded and ongoing humanitarian assistance programme to mobile and vulnerable populations, which includes distribution of food, non-food items as well as mainstreaming of gender-based violence, HIV and AIDS prevention (as set out in the objectives and activities below).

Humanitarian Assistance to Returned Zimbabwean Migrants from Botswana (Plumtree)

The project aims to provide humanitarian assistance to returning Zimbabwean migrants through the establishment of a Reception and Support Centre at the Plumtree border on the Zimbabwe side of the border with Botswana. The project will assist the deportees once cleared by Zimbabwe Immigration and Police, with transportation, food, health, and awareness-raising activities on HIV and AIDS as well as informing them on issues related to irregular migration, including, trafficking, smuggling, and human rights of migrants.

Humanitarian Assistance to Returned Migrants from Botswana - Zimbabwe (HARM)

The project aims to provide humanitarian assistance to returnees through the establishment of a Reception and Support Centre at the Plumtree border on the Zimbabwe side of the border with Botswana. While IOM will not be involved in the actual deportation process, the project will assist these population groups once cleared by Zimbabwe Immigration and Police, with transportation, food, health, and awareness-raising activities on HIV and AIDS as well as on inform them on issues related to irregular migration, including, trafficking, smuggling, and human rights of migrants.

Humanitarian Assistance for Mobile Population and Deported Migrants at Beitbridge Border Town, Zimbabwe (HADM-BBT II)

The project aims to provide humanitarian assistance to deported migrants and other mobile populations through the establishment of a Reception and Support Centre at the Beitbridge border between Zimbabwe and South Africa. The project will assist these population groups with transportation, food, health, and awareness-raising activities on HIV and AIDS as well as on inform them on issues related to irregular migration, including, trafficking, smuggling, human and migrant rights etc.

This project provides humanitarian assistance to returned migrants and other mobile populations through the Reception and Support Centre (RSC) at the Beitbridge border on the Zimbabwe side of the border with South Africa.
