A Chinese case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) did not show infectivity during the incubation period: Based on an epidemiological survey

Controversy remains over whether the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) virus may have infectivity during the incubation period before the onset of symptoms. The author had the opportunity to examine the infectivity of COVID-19 during the incubation period by conducting an epidemiological survey on a confirmed patient who had visited Jeju Island during the incubation period. The epidemiological findings support the claim that the COVID-19 virus does not have infectivity during the incubation period. Copyright © 2019 The Korean Society for Preventive Medicine.

Studying the Clinical Data of COVID Positive patients admitted to a tertiary care academic hospital

Background: As the time this data was studied in Florida, USA was expecting a surge in number of COVID patients. We are hereby presenting analysis of clinical data collected from the first 30 COVID positive patients admitted to our teaching hospital in Sarasota Florida. Methods: The present study was conducted at a not-for-profit 839-bed level-2 regional trauma center, level-3 neurointensive intensive care unit (ICU), and comprehensive stroke and cardiovascular center located on Florida's Central Gulf Coast.

Examining the incubation period distributions of COVID-19 on Chinese patients with different travel histories

Introduction: Current studies estimated a general incubation period distribution of COVID-19 based on early-confirmed cases in Wuhan, and have not examined whether the incubation period distribution varies across population segments with different travel histories. We aimed to examine whether patients infected by community transmission had extended incubation periods than the early generation patients who had direct exposures to Wuhan.

CT manifestations of novel coronavirus pneumonia: A case report

Background: Since December 2019, the outbreak of the novel coronavirus has impacted nearly >90,000 people in more than 75 countries. In this case report, we aim to define the chest computed tomography findings of 2019-novel coronavirus associated with pneumonia and its successful resolution after treatment. Case Report: A fifty-year-old female patient, who is a businesswoman, presented with chief complaints of “fever for one week, diarrhea, anorexia, and asthenia.” Initially, she was given Tamiflu. The influenza A virus serology was negative.

Early transmission dynamics of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in Nigeria

On 31 December 2019, the World Health Organization (WHO) was notified of a novel coronavirus disease in China that was later named COVID-19. On 11 March 2020, the outbreak of COVID-19 was declared a pandemic. The first instance of the virus in Nigeria was documented on 27 February 2020. This study provides a preliminary epidemiological analysis of the first 45 days of COVID-19 outbreak in Nigeria.

Estimation of the excess covid-19 cases in Seoul, South Korea by the students arriving from China

Background: In March 2020, overall, 37,000 international students from China, a country at risk of the 2019-novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection has arrived in Seoul, South Korea. Use of available data to inform the COVID-19 outbreak in South Africa: A case study

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19), caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) in February 2020. Currently, there are no vaccines or treatments that have been approved after clinical trials. Social distancing measures, including travel bans, school closure, and quarantine applied to countries or regions are being used to limit the spread of the disease, and the demand on the healthcare infrastructure. The seclusion of groups and individuals has led to limited access to accurate information.

Using data from the WHO's Situation Report on the COVID-19 pandemic from 21 January 2020 to 30 March 2020 along with other health, demographic, and macroeconomic indicators from the WHO's Application Programming Interface and the World Bank's Development Indicators, this paper explores the death rates of infected persons and their possible associated factors.

The predictive capacity of air travel patterns during the global spread of the covid-19 pandemic: Risk, uncertainty and randomness

Air travel has a decisive role in the spread of infectious diseases at the global level. We present a methodology applied during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic that uses detailed aviation data at the final destination level in order to measure the risk of the disease spreading outside China. The approach proved to be successful in terms of identifying countries with a high risk of infected travellers and as a tool to monitor the evolution of the pandemic in different countries.

Near-complete genome sequence of a 2019 Novel Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) strain causing a COVID-19 case in Peru
