Migration Health Research Area/Expertise
I am interested in research since 2000 when I started my postgraduate study in the department of dermatology at the Tajik State Medical University. My first research was about the diagnostic and treatment of psoriasis using infrared spectroscopy. Later, working at the Dushanbe Center on Healthy Lifestyle Promotion, I led the data collection and analysis of the survey on knowledge and attitude relating to typhoid fever. Since 2005 as a manager of the health projects at IOM Tajikistan, I have implemented research on knowledge, attitude and practice relating to sexually transmitted infections, HIV and tuberculosis jointly with the national research agencies and health officials. The results of the researches were presented at the high level international, regional and national conferences, published as abstracts, articles, poster presentations. From 2015 to 2018, I worked jointly with the French Institute on Central Asian Studies for the publication, "Healthcare and migration in Central Asia" by Sophie Hohmann and Rukhshona Kurbonova, released in December 2018. The publication included two of my articles based on the researches conducted under IOM umbrella: "Health Status and Health Needs of Foreign Migrant Workers in Tajikistan: Legal, Social, Community, and Individual Aspects", and "Tajik healthcare workers on the move: causes, consequences and responses".
