I have been working in the field of health and migration for the last 22 years. As a development practitioner, I have served a number of I/NGOs and UN Agencies either as full-time staff or as a Consultant. Currently, I am working as a Managing Director of Center for Development Communications DEVCOM Ltd. In the recent past, I worked with BRAC as a Program Head of Migration Program. Prior to that, I worked with CARE Bangladesh, HASAB (HIV AIDS and STD Alliance Bangladesh), John Hopkins University-Center for Communication Program (JHU-CCP) team at BCCP (Bangladesh Center for Communication Program) and SHISUK, a national NGO. During this period I have mainly worked for the migrants population both overseas migrants and internal migrants and was engaged in various research, communication, capacity building and program management activities. Besides, I have worked with International Organization for Migration (IOM), UN Women, Save the Children, CARE Bangladesh, OKUP and many other organizations as Consultant. My key areas of research and communication works include Migrants’ Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRHR), Safe Migration, Pre-Departure Program, Remittance Management and various programmatic needs assessment works. I have been engaged in thematic research, communication and policy research, monitoring and evaluation.
I have keen interest in the areas of migration and development, migrant’s health, HIV AIDS, sexual and reproductive health rights, occupational health and workplace safety and security, Violence against migrant workers and health vulnerabilities, in particular for the Women Migrant Workers, Pre-departure Health Orientation and HIV AIDS, Mandatory HIV Testing and Migrant’s Rights, Cost of Migration, Women Migrants Health issues. However, I believe that there are so many other areas to undertake research and initiate programs and services for the migrants, where I have keen interests.
