As people across the world become more and more mobile, the link between human mobility and health has become increasingly relevant, dynamic, and complex. Not only is the health of migrants affected by the circumstances of their migration process along the mobility continuum – at the origin, transit, destination, and return locations – but movements also impact public health as people on the move and the communities hosting them interact within and across borders.

Airport Entry and Exit Screening during the Ebola Virus Disease Outbreak in Sierra Leone, 2014 to 2016

We present entry and exit screening outcomes on all persons passing through Freetown International Airport (FNA) in Sierra Leone during the period 1st September 2014 to 4th February 2016. A total of 166,242 persons underwent screening for Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) at FNA. Five persons were denied air travel from Sierra Leone after secondary screening. IOM DR Congo Ebola Response - North Kivu | 31 August 2018 | Situation Report 2

Since the outbreak of the 10th Ebola virus disease, a month ago, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the outbreak continues to claim lives in the province of North Kivu. The International Organization for Migration (IOM), the UN Migration Agency, is working closely with the Congolese Ministry of Health (MoH), WHO and humanitarian actors to contain the outbreak and address the needs of affected communities.
